Alert Issued Following Post Claimed To Be From MI Dept Of AG

Lansing, MI - Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel is clarifying a Facebook post circulating online that claims to be from the office is not from the Department of Attorney General.

The post was shared last week and has received thousands of comments and shares

A reporter for checkyourfact.com reached out to the Department asking for confirmation of its authenticity.

“To be clear, the information contained in the post did not come from the Department of Attorney General,” Nessel said. “This is a reminder that you should scrutinize posts you see on social media before sharing them to your networks.”

The Canton Police Department also confirmed the alleged incident described in the post did not result in a report with the agency.

The post also claims drivers can dial 1-1-2 to reach police dispatch. That is inaccurate.

Anyone who needs to reach law enforcement should dial 9-1-1.
