Best Mac In The Mac Constest In Macomb County

Mt. Clemens, MI - Calling all independently owned and operated local restaurants! Macomb County is looking for the best housemade macaroni and cheese as part of its first-ever Mac Madness: Best Mac in the Mac event.

The contest, which is being organized by Macomb County Planning and Economic Development (MCPED), will promote local restaurants that specialize in preparing this noodle dish from scratch.

“This past year has been extremely challenging for our restaurants,” said Vicky Rowinski, director of MCPED. “We created this new initiative as a fun way to recognize these businesses while also promoting what they do best, which is making food that everyone enjoys. We know that there are popular macaroni and cheese dishes in this county. So let’s celebrate that and choose the best!”

Restaurants that offer any type of housemade macaroni and cheese are encouraged to enter the contest here starting today through March 22 at Noon. Additional rules for entrants include:

Once the portal closes, all entrants will be featured in a public vote period called Mac Madness 2021, where restaurants face off in a bracket-style competition. Public voting will start March 29, and restaurants will be narrowed down from the top 16 to the final two. The top vote getter from that face-off will win:

A $1,000 grant will also be awarded to the second place restaurant, while the third and fourth runners up will receive $500 each.
