Detroit Repair Facility Registration Revoked

Detroit, MI - The Michigan Department of State (MDOS) has revoked the facility registration of a Detroit auto repair shop for multiple violations of the Michigan Service and Repair Act.

Representatives of 1 Mechanic Zone LLC, also known as Mechanic Zone, owned by Basam Hakop and located at 3001 E. 7 Mile Road in Detroit, appeared at an administrative hearing on Jan. 12 to address repeated violations of the law, including violation of a probation agreement, issuing improper invoices and violating mechanic certification requirements. An MDOS administrative law examiner noted that  Mechanic Zone entered into three Alternative Penalty Agreements with the department since 2018 and continued to commit essentially the same wrongful acts since that time. The administrative law examiner ordered the facility registration to be revoked effective Feb. 18.

Consumers who have a complaint against Mechanic Zone are encouraged to call the Office of Investigative Services automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.
