Macomb County Seeks Contractors For Housing Rehab Program

Metro Detroit Business NewsMt. Clemens, MI - Macomb County Planning and Economic Development (MCPED) is looking for qualified contractors to join its Housing Rehabilitation program.

Interested parties can learn more about the opportunity by attending a meet and greet open house on Tuesday, July 9, from 9-10 a.m. at the Verkuilen Building, located at 21885 Dunham Road in Clinton Township. Reservations are required to attend.

“This open house gives contractors a chance to learn about the Housing Rehabilitation program, as well as meet our staff,” Housing Services Coordinator Kelly Krygel said. “Interested contractors will receive a county packet, which includes a contractor application and a manual that explains the program in more detail.”

The following qualifications must be met for all contractors:

  • Residential builder’s license in the state of Michigan.
  • Liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence and $2 million in aggregate, with property damage and bodily injury inclusions.
  • Proof of Worker’s Compensation Insurance.
  • Documentation on ability to perform housing rehabilitation work.
  • Current Michigan Department of Community Health Lead Abatement Contractor Certification and Lead Supervision Certification.
  • Current EPA Firm Certification for Lead-Based Paint Renovation, Repair and Painting.
  • Completed Debarment And Suspension Certification (County supplied).
  • Completed Macomb County Vendor Disclosure Form (County supplied).
  • Tax identification number – W9 form (County supplied).

Approved contractors will be eligible to bid competitively on Home Rehabilitation Projects for single-family residential homes within Macomb County utilizing Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnership Program funds.

The housing rehabilitation program is overseen by Macomb County Planning and Economic Development as part of its housing assistance services. The program provides assistance for low-to-moderate income households that do not exceed income levels annually determined by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Coffee and donuts will be provided. The event is being held in the senior auditorium in the Verkuilen Building. Attendees will enter through the C door.
