Free Tax Prep And Filing Available For Macomb County Veterans

Clinton Twp., MI - Macomb County Veterans Services has partnered with Macomb Community Action and the Accounting Aid Society to offer free tax help for local veterans and low-income individuals and families through its IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Services will be available through July 15, 2020.

“The spread of COVID-19 compelled the Department of the Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service to extend the tax filing deadline into July,” said Laura Rios, chief veterans services officer, Macomb County Veterans Services. “We are just weeks away from that date, so now is the time to seek preparation and filing assistance. And if you need help, our program can provide it.”

The tax program is offered annually and typically serves about 1,500 people. Individuals can qualify for help if they meet the following criteria:
