Detroit Man Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Neighbor

Detroit, MI - On November 17, 2022, at approximately 6:47 a.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 8580 block of Robson Street in Detroit for a reported shooting. Upon their arrival, officers located the victim lying face down in the street, in front of the residence, suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Medics arrived on scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

It is alleged that Defendant Lackey produced and fired a handgun, fatally wounding the victim, before barricading himself inside his home. After a brief standoff, the defendant eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

Michael Craig Lackey has been charged with one count of Premeditated First-Degree Murder, one count of Witness - Retaliating Against, and two counts of Felony Firearm. *

He was arraigned and remanded to jail on November 20, 2022, in 36th District Court. The Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for November 28, 2022, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination is scheduled for December 5, 2022, 1:45 p.m., before Judge Kenneth King.
