Detroit, MI -On Wednesday, January 25, 2023, it was announced that prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Fernando Darryl Ford, 30, of Southfield, in connection with the armed robbery of two dollar stores in Detroit.
January 13, 2023 - 11630 block of Greenfield Road - 6:50 p.m.
At approximately 7:10 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a dollar store in the 11630 block of Greenfield Road for a reported robbery. Upon their arrival officers were directed to the victims. It is alleged that the defendant produced a handgun, before robbing the store and fleeing the scene.
Defendant Ford has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery and one count of Felony Firearm. *
January 13, 2023 - 14610 block of McNichols Street - 7:40 p.m.
At approximately 7:45 p.m., Detroit police officers were dispatched to a dollar store in the 14610 blocks of McNichols for a reported robbery. Upon their arrival, officers made contact with a female employee. It is alleged that the defendant entered the store as a customer. It is further alleged that the defendant produced a handgun and robbed the store, before fleeing the scene. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the arrest of the defendant on January 21, 2023.
Defendant Ford has been charged with one count of Armed Robbery. *
He was arraigned on both cases on January 24, 2023, in 36th District Court and given a $300,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether for both cases. A bond redetermination hearing is scheduled for January 26, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. The Probable Cause Conference on both cases is scheduled for January 31, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., and the Preliminary Examination on both cases is scheduled for February 6, 2023, at 8:45 a.m., before Judge Patricia Jefferson.
