Macomb Co Issues Update In Response To Online Animal Abuse Vid

Mt. Clemens, MI - Macomb County has been taking action following the release of a video of local animal abuse. On Wednesday, October 12, officials hosted a press conference to address the public and to share the response from local law enforcement. On Friday Oct. 14, 2022 the County shared a further update.

“Because there has been such an overwhelming response from the community wanting to know where this animal cruelty case stands, I find it necessary to give you a brief update,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel. “I would first like to thank Macomb County Animal Control and the Macomb County Sheriff's Office for swiftly handling this investigation. The request for authorization of a warrant, along with evidence and supporting documentation, has been reviewed by detectives along with Prosecutor staff and currently sits on the Prosecutor's desk. We anticipate the signing of that warrant to take place before the end of today so that the individual involved in this matter can be held accountable.”

In the meantime, the German Shepherd and the other dogs in the home remain in protective care at Macomb County Animal Control.

Animal abuse is a crime. If an individual sees something, they should say something. Please do not hesitate to contact local law enforcement. Macomb County takes these matters seriously and it will continue to advocate on behalf of all animals.
