Free Hearing And Vision Screenings In Macomb County

Mt. Clemens, MI - The Macomb County Health Department is currently offering free hearing and vision screenings for children ages 3 to 18-years-old who live or attend school in Macomb County.

Although all children are encouraged to get screened, Michigan law requires hearing and vision screening prior to starting kindergarten. If your child will be starting school for the 2021-2022 school year and has not been screened, call (586) 412-5945 to make an appointment at one of the screening locations within Macomb County. Appointments are required.

“Hearing and vision difficulties can hamper a child’s ability to read, pay attention, follow directions and ultimately learn,” said Andrew Cox, Director/Health Officer of the Macomb County Health Department, “These screenings can play an important role in helping identify these difficulties, and perhaps more importantly, lay the groundwork for proactive solutions that promote learning.”

Hearing and vision screenings will be administered by health department hearing and vision technicians who have been trained by the State of Michigan.
