MDHHS Issues Statement On Recent Michigan Coronavirus Activity

Lansing, MI - The individual transported from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport to a local hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 4 did not meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) criteria for 2019 Novel Coronavirus testing and is not a person under investigation.

CDC criteria for testing includes the following:

  1. Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND travel history to Hubei Province within 14 days of symptom onset.
  2. Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND travel history to mainland China within 14 days of symptom onset.
  3. Fever or lower respiratory illness (coughing, shortness of breath) AND exposure to a laboratory-confirmed 2019 Novel Coronavirus case.

No additional information will be released about this individual.
