Oakland Co Health Division Announces 2nd COVID-19 Booster

Pontiac, MI - Oakland County Health Division is offering second COVID-19 booster shots for residents who are at least 50 years old and individuals 12 years and older with weakened immune systems who received a booster dose at least 4 months ago.

Appointments are available and walk-ins are accepted at community clinics and at the Health Division's Pontiac office, 1200 North Telegraph Rd, Bldg. 34E, and the Southfield office, 27725 Greenfield Road. For eligible individuals 5 years and older, indoor vaccination clinics will be held on:

  • Wednesday, April 6 and April 13 at the Southfield Pavilion, 26000 Evergreen Road, Southfield from 1-4:30 p.m.
  • Friday, April 8 at Waterford Oaks, 2800 Watkins Lake Road, Waterford, from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m.

A drive-through clinic will be held for eligible individuals 12 years and older on Thursday, April 7 at the Rochester Fire Department, 277 East 2nd Street, Rochester from 1-4:30 PM.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that individuals:  

  • 50 years and older get a second booster dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
  • 12 years and older with a weakened immune system get a second booster dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
  • 18 years and older with a weakened immune system get a second booster dose of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.

More than 922,500 Oakland County residents have been vaccinated since COVID-19 vaccines became available on Dec. 17, 2020, representing 78 percent of Oakland County residents 5 years and older who are eligible to receive primary series doses.
