Macomb County Dept Of Roads Launches Online Permitting System

Mt. Clemens, MI - The Macomb County Department of Roads (MCDR) will utilize a new online platform, Oxcart, to manage requests for transportation permits within the MCDR right of way.

The new system, which the county started using in May, allows the Department of Roads to receive applications and payments online and issue one-way moves and special move (cab card) permits digitally.

“Our new online permitting system provides standardization and technology that will save valuable time and resources for our department and staff,” said MCDR Director Bryan Santo. “Permit applicants will be able to apply, pay for and receive permits in one easy to use platform.”

The application system will improve efficiency and expedite the review process. Transportation permit applications can now be completed online at roads.macombgov.org. MCDR’s Permit Department oversees and inspects all incoming requests for permits including trucking, construction, industrial developments, utilities, and residential work.

“Those applying for transportation related permits now have an efficient and convenient way to submit applications to the Macomb County Department of Roads for review,” said Robert Bush, MCDR Permit Department Manager. “We want to do everything we can to ensure our department provides a user-friendly customer service experience.”

Effective May 3, the new platform allows users to:

  • Apply online 24-hours a day, 365-days per year
  • Submit one-way moves and special move (cab card) permit applications
  • Pay the permit fee online using a credit card
  • Download permits once approved
