Detroit, MI - On Saturday, July 15, 2023, Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced that a 12-year-old girl has been charged in connection with assaulting an 11-year-old girl with acid. The assault occurred on Sunday, July 9, 2023, at a local park in Detroit.
The juvenile respondent has been charged with one count each of Assault with Intent to do Great Bodily Harm and Felonious Assault. *
A preliminary hearing was held and a $10,000/% bond with a tether was ordered. The respondent was ordered to have no contact with the victim or any witnesses. Her next court hearing is on July 18, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. before Referee Wanda Cal.
"This is an extremely troubling set of allegations. Instant horrible decision making can have lifelong effects on others. There is no excuse for this," said Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
