Beaubien Street Bridge Over I-94 In Detroit Closed

Detroit, MI - The Michigan Department of Transportation is closing the Beaubien Street overpass above I-94 in the city of Detroit for safety. The closure follows a recent bridge inspection that found deteriorating conditions that require closing the overpass.

During the closure of the overpass, southbound Beaubien Street traffic will be diverted to the westbound I-94 service drive, then southbound John R. Street to the eastbound I-94 service drive, and back to Beaubien Street. Northbound Beaubien Street traffic will follow westbound Hendrie Street to northbound Brush Street, then eastbound Harper Avenue back to Beaubien Street. Access to residences will be maintained.

The Beaubien Street overpass was originally built in 1955 and has never been replaced. Any future plans for this structure, including repairs, will be announced at a later date.
