Rebuilding Of Fort St Bridges Over Ecorse Creek Begins Aug 7, 2023

Detroit / Lincoln Park, MI - The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $5.4 million to rebuild the M-85 (Fort Street) bridges over Ecorse Creek in the cities of Lincoln Park and Detroit.

The project includes replacing two superstructures; repairing concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk; replacing guardrail; and installing new signs and pavement markings. In addition, the traffic signal at the M-85/Outer Drive intersection will be modernized.

Beginning 6 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, southbound M-85 (Fort Street) near Outer Drive will be reduced to one lane through the late fall. Also, eastbound Outer Drive will have two lanes open at M-85. Crews will be installing a temporary wall and temporary pavement to carry traffic in future stages of the project. Northbound M-85 work will begin in January with the overall project expected to be completed in late fall 2024.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 65 jobs.
