Traffic Shift Planned For Gratiot Ave In Macomb County

Roseville, MI - A traffic shift is planned for northbound and southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) between Common and 14 Mile Roads. Before traffic can be safely shifted, crews need to safely paint new lane markings, move barrels, etc., from the two inside left lanes to the two outside right lanes.

The planned schedule includes:

  • 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25 (weather permitting), northbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) will be reduced to one lane between Common and 14 Mile roads.
  • 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 (weather permitting), southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) will be reduced to one lane between 14 Mile and Common roads.

Once traffic is safely shifted into the newly rebuilt outside right lanes, contractors will begin replacing the asphalt roadway and median crossovers in the inside left lanes. Signs will be replaced, along with ramps and sidewalks to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The northbound M-3 ramp to westbound I-94 will also reopen on Thursday, Aug. 25. The southbound M-3 ramp to westbound I-94 will reopen in mid-September. The eastbound I-94 exit ramp to M-3 remains closed until late fall due to safety concerns.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 826 jobs.

This work is part of the second year of the two-year project to rebuild 3 miles of M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) between 11 Mile and 14 Mile roads in the city of Roseville. The project is expected to be completed by late fall. For more information, go to MovingMacomb.org.
