Harrison Twp., MI - Crews on the M-59 rebuilding project will begin working at the interchange with I-94 next week, which will require ramps closures for safer work zones.
The following restrictions will be in place during this work:
- Beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, May 31, eastbound M-59 will be closed just east of I-94 at Towne Center Boulevard through late June. Traffic will be able to use Towne Center Boulevard.
The eastbound I-94 ramp to eastbound M-59 will also be closed for rebuilding. Eastbound I-94 traffic heading for eastbound M-59 will exit at 21 Mile Road, then take eastbound 21 Mile Road to southbound Jefferson Avenue to reach M-59.
- Beginning 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, I-94 will be reduced to one lane open in each direction near M-59 during the bridge work listed below. When this shift is completed, traffic will reopen to three lanes in each direction, although additional lane closures may be required.
- Beginning 7 a.m. Saturday, June 4, through late June, the eastbound I-94 exit to westbound M-59 will be closed. Detour: Continue east on I-94 to 21 Mile Road, then take westbound 21 Mile Road to southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue).
- Beginning 7 a.m. Saturday, June 4, through late June July, the westbound M-59 exit to westbound I-94 will be closed. Detour: Take the eastbound I-94 exit instead, then exit at 21 Mile Road and turn right to get to the westbound I-94 on ramp.
