Detroit, MI - Road work continues on northbound and southbound US-24 (Telegraph Road) between M-5 (Grand River Avenue) and M-102 (8 Mile Road), with two lanes open in each direction. This is the first year of a two-year rebuilding project.
Currently, crews are close to finishing the two right lanes of northbound and southbound of US-24 (Telegraph Road) between M-5 (Grand River Avenue) and M-102 (8 Mile Road). Once those two outside lanes are completed, traffic will then be shifted onto the newly rebuilt lanes (sometime in mid- to late October). Once traffic is shifted, work will begin on the two inside/left lanes. The rebuilding of the US-24 (Telegraph Road) intersections at M-5 (Grand River Avenue) and 7 Mile Road continues. This project will continue working throughout the winter and is expected to be completed by late 2024.
The US-24 (Telegraph Road)/M-102 (8 Mile Road) interchange will be rebuilt as a diverging diamond interchange (DDI) in 2024.

The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $54 million to rebuild 1.4 miles of US-24 (Telegraph Road) between M-5 (Grand River Avenue) to north of M-102 (8 Mile Road). This two-year project includes rebuilding US-24, improving five bridges, drainage and water main relocation work, sidewalk ramp improvements that are compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), sign replacements, and traffic signal and lighting relocations from the M-5 (Grand River Avenue) intersection to the M-102 (8 Mile Road) area, where a diverging diamond interchange will be built to improve efficiency and enhance safety.
Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 653 jobs.
