Poster Design Contest To Promote Face Coverings In Macomb County

Mt. Clemens, MI - In recognition of the importance of wearing a mask to reduce the spread of COVID-19, Macomb County invites creative people of all ages to design a poster to help promote #MaskUpMacomb. Prizes will be offered to the top three winning entries in two age categories.

Sponsored by Macomb County in partnership with the Anton Art Center and Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals, entries will be accepted online (www.theartcenter.org/artist-opportunities) August 26th through September 16th at midnight.

A panel of judges from each organization will review and score entries based on originality, distinctive design, and its ability to convey the message that face coverings are an important way to protect public health. All entries will be viewed and judged randomly and anonymously to ensure unbiased and fair judging.

“Art has a powerful way of communicating beyond what words alone can do. Right now, wearing a mask is one of our best defenses against COVID-19. I’m excited to see how our artists can creatively reinforce that message,” said Barbara Rossmann, President and CEO, Henry Ford Macomb Hospitals.

The contest is open to all Macomb County residents. Entries will be accepted in two age categories: those above the age of 18 and those below the age of 18. To be eligible for jurying, entries must be submitted by the deadline in a 2-D digital, hi-res file format in any media or combination of media, including, but not limited to: painting, drawing, illustration, digital art, photography, marker, colored pencil, graphite, charcoal, mixed media, collage, etc.

The top entry in the adult category will be printed as a poster and distributed in communities across Macomb County. The creator of the top design will also receive a cash prize of $500 with $250 awarded to the second top scoring design and $150 for the third.

The top three entries in the youth category will each receive one complimentary registration for an art class offered at the Anton Art Center in downtown Mount Clemens.
