Portion Of I-94 In Detroit To Close Weekend of Oct 27-30, 2023

Metro Detroit Traffic NewsDetroit, MI - Weather permitting, Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) contract crews will close both directions of I-94 between M-10 (Lodge Freeway) and M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) for bridge demolition.

The closure starts at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, and ends by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30. The closure is necessary to allow crews to safely remove the Beaubien Street overpass and the Seminole Street pedestrian bridge over I-94.

During the freeway closure, westbound I-94 will be detoured via southbound M-3 to southbound I-75, then westbound I-96 back to westbound I-94.

Eastbound I-94 will be detoured via southbound M-10 to northbound I-75, then northbound M-3 back to eastbound I-94.

Prior to the full closure, all entrance ramps to westbound I-94 from Cadieux to John R. roads will be closed. Entrance ramps to eastbound I-94 will close from 30th Street to M-53 (Van Dyke Avenue). All ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

Both structures will be replaced in the future. The Seminole Street pedestrian bridge will become a multimodal structure, one block west at Iroquois Street.
